Windsor’s advanced auto manufacturers evolve and grow at a fast pace

Three local manufacturers scale up operations, boost competitiveness and create 42 skilled jobs in the Windsor region

FED DEV Ontario dubs Windsor-Essex the “automotive capital of Canada,” citing that the region is rooted in more than 100 years of automotive manufacturing expertise. On Wednesday Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development announced a contribution totaling more than $7 million to announced support to help scale up and grow three local companies.

The three companies Laval Tool & Mould Ltd. (Laval Tool), Precision Stamping Group (PSG) and SPM Automation (Canada) Inc. (SPM Automation) are local leaders in their fields in the auto sector. Collectively, with 160 employees and nearly 75 years in business in Windsor-Essex, these companies are working hard to find solutions to challenges in stamping, tooling, mould making and plastics. With growth plans underway, these community-oriented manufacturers are better positioning themselves to compete on the world stage.
